Master of Business Administration in Bank Management (MBM)

 

The Program is directed towards members of bank management groups as well as of financial controlling divisions, consultants and advisors active in providing services to financial institutions. It is also of interest for academics of financial departments who want to get an insight into the practical implementation of new concepts of bank management.

 

Objectives:

  • An understanding of innovative concepts of integrated bank management.
  • The knowledge of new methods of bank measurement and capital allocation in bank management.
  • The ability to develop the conceptual framework and a consistent risk-/return key ratio system for an integrated risk-/return management of the bank portfolio.
  • An insight into an optimization algorithm to determine risk-/return optimum bank portfolios with respect to loss risk limitations from both, internal and a regulatory point of view.

Admission Requirements:

Minimum BA/ B. Com/ B. Sc or its equivalent.

 

Degree Requirements:

  • Completion of 42-60 credit hours.
  • Passing all courses individually and maintaining a minimum CGPA of B (3.0).

Duration: 4-6 trimesters (4 months makes a trimester)

  • Students with a four-year business undergraduate degree/BBA/M. Com./PGD in Business Education will be waived pre-requisite courses.

Group B: MBM 750 Thesis (6 Credit Hours)

MBM candidates having a minimum CGPA of 3.5 at required and specialized courses may take supervised study and research culminating in a thesis in their fields of specialization. The completed thesis should be bind and printed in accordance with the regulations of IBAIS University.

BUS 509 Business & Marketing

Business: Meaning of business, Basic elements of business, Basic Features of business, its branches and their place in the economy of Bangladesh, Business environment, Business size, Location of Business, Efficiency of business enterprises, Social responsibility of business and its implications. Forms of Business ownership in Bangladesh, Relative position of each form of ownership, Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, Joint-Stock Company, Co-operatives and state Ownership, Formalities and distinguishing features of each form of ownership, Considerations in the choice of specific form of Ownership.

 

Marketing: Definition of marketing, scope of marketing, modern functions of marketing, core concepts of marketing, marketing system and goals, market, and marketing mix, marketing process, principles and problems involved in the transfer of goods and services from produces to the ultimate consumer. Market measurement, Market segmentation, Marketing environment.

 

STA 512 Statistical Decision Making

The course is designed to equip the student with statistical tools and concept to be used in the decision making process. The topics of the course include measure of central tendency, measure of dispersion, probability distribution and their application in the management decision process, testing hypothesis, regression, correlation and introduction to parametric statistics, survey methods, sample design and sources of business static sin Bangladesh.

 

MGT 515 Management and Organizational Behavior

The course introduces applied behavioral sciences to the study of people at work in organization. The course deals with individual and group behavior models in the context of different organizations and social system. It deals with the basic concept of motivation, perception learning and analysis of human behavior, individual difference and job satisfaction, attitude change, group process, team work, role theory, power and authority, along with the analysis of small group behavior, group dynamics, leadership, conflict and managing change, development of the organization and the influence of group.

 

BUS 516 Business Communication

The study “communication and organization” clarifies the process of sending a massage in such a way that the message received is a close in meaning as possible to the massage intended. The course will cover fundamentals of communication, non-verbal communication, guidelines of effective communication, letters and memo writing, oral presentation skills, report wring, cover letter and resume, interview skills, meeting and seminars, communication technology.

 

MAT 517 Mathematics for Decisions

The course includes elements of algebra, numbers fields, linear and non-linear inequalities, functions sets analytical geometry, logarithm limit, differential and integral calculus, matrix and linear programming. The purpose of the course is to help the students learn mathematics tools, which are used in management studies.

Financial accounting is concerned with recording, presentation of financial data generated by a business unit in a framework of convention accounting procedures. Will cover basic concepts in accounting, balance sheet & profit and loss account, double entry system and ledger account procedures, preparation of balance sheet and profit and loss account from the ledger, accounts of limited company, ratio and performance measurement, cash flow statement, valuation and performance measurement, control of accounting system, IT application.
